About This Experience
This community-based cycling program provides an educational introduction to Old Havana’s historic center through direct engagement with Cuban guides and independent, privately owned local businesses. Operated by Cuba’s first cycling mobility initiative—a project created and led by Cuban women—this experience also offers participants the opportunity to engage directly with the founders and staff while supporting their community-focused work. Participants cycle through UNESCO-designated public spaces while learning about heritage preservation, daily urban life, and the role of Cuba’s self-employed sector in sustaining the city’s historic core.
The experience is designed to encourage meaningful people-to-people exchange and provide direct economic benefit to Cuban entrepreneurs and independent professionals.
The route includes key civic and cultural landmarks such as the Malecón Habanero, Paseo del Prado, El Capitolio, Plaza Vieja, Plaza de San Francisco de Asís, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, and Loma del Ángel. Throughout the ride, guides share historical context on Havana’s founding, local traditions and legends, and the development of the plazas, fortifications, passageways, and restored buildings that make up the Historic Center of Old Havana, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
